Built around systems, not storefronts
Hellamaid started in 2017 as a side business in Guelph, with founder Ahmed Mezil cleaning the first homes himself while working full time as an engineer. He and co-founder Abdul-Rahman El-Sayed built it around online booking with upfront pricing, automated scheduling, and software that lets cleaners set their own availability.
Today Hellamaid offers residential and commercial cleaning across Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia, is Living Wage certified in all three provinces, and began franchising across Canada in 2026.
Founded in Guelph, Ontario by engineers Ahmed Mezil and Abdul-Rahman El-Sayed.
Passes $1 million in annual revenue and moves from founder-led cleaning to a scalable operating system.

Two engineers, one cleaning company
Ahmed Mezil, P.Eng
Founder and CEO
A licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario with a BASc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and an MASc from the University of Toronto. Before Hellamaid he ran biomedical engineering labs at the University of Guelph. He leads strategy, marketing and technology, and is a recognized cleaning expert on wikiHow.
Abdul-Rahman El-Sayed
Co-founder and COO
An engineer by training who co-founded Hellamaid in 2017. He built the operations behind its growth to 60+ cities, including the flexible-schedule, above-living-wage pay model that underpins Hellamaid's cleaner retention. Today he champions the franchise program, helping new partners bring Hellamaid's system to their own cities, and was featured in Franchise Canada's 2026 look at emerging franchise brands.
