Booking your cleaner more often does not mean paying more every year. It usually means the opposite.
The common assumption about recurring house cleaning is simple: the more often your cleaner comes, the more you spend. That is true at the annual level, but it hides what actually happens at each appointment, and the gap between the two is bigger than most people expect. We pulled 11,217 completed recurring cleaning visits at 1,621 Canadian homes over the 12 complete months ending August 31, 2026, and compared weekly, bi-weekly and every-four-week service on the three questions that decide the bill.
This report is built entirely on cleanings we actually completed, not a survey and not estimates. Where a figure depends on assumptions, such as projecting a full year of visits, we say so and show the completed-spend check alongside it.

The verdict: bi-weekly costs far less per year
A fully scheduled bi-weekly year was estimated at $4,670, roughly 44% less than a weekly year at $8,368 and about 80% more than every-four-week service at $2,600.
For each frequency we took the median of every home’s own typical appointment price, then applied a full annual cadence, 52 weekly visits, 26 bi-weekly, or 13 every four weeks. Giving each home one equal observation stops the most frequent customers from dominating the result.

Bi-weekly visits were not cheaper than weekly visits
The median weekly appointment cost $149.16. Bi-weekly cost $162.26, and every four weeks cost $189.50.
Annual cost and per-visit cost tell opposite stories. A typical bi-weekly appointment cost 8.8% more than a weekly one, and an every-four-week appointment cost 27% more. The likely reason is buildup: a home cleaned less often needs more work each visit. Whatever the cause, bi-weekly’s lower annual number did not come from a cheaper visit. Frequency, not visit length, drives the annual bill
The median scheduled visit was three hours across all three frequencies, so the annual difference is almost entirely about how many visits a schedule contains. How we estimated a full year
We took the median home-level appointment price in each frequency and multiplied it by the scheduled number of visits per year.

What continuous homes actually completed
As a reality check we isolated homes that stayed on one frequency across the whole year with no long gap. Only seven weekly homes qualified, below our threshold of 10 for reporting, so that cell is suppressed. The bi-weekly and monthly cohorts held up and kept the same ranking.

Completed spend ran below the perfect-cadence estimate because real customers skip dates, travel and reschedule. The direction of the finding did not change: bi-weekly still cost less per year than weekly, and more than monthly.
The effective hourly price rose as visits got rarer

Bi-weekly ran 3.8% higher per scheduled hour than weekly, but 8.3% lower than every four weeks. This is the customer’s booking total divided by scheduled hours, not a cleaner wage, and it can include tax and tip.

Why we did not call this a study of 10,000 homes
From January 2017 through August 2026 the data held 43,099 qualifying recurring visits across 4,195 Canadian homes. The latest complete 12 months, which this report uses, held 11,217 visits across 1,621 homes. Those are large operational samples, but they are not 10,000 homes, and we would rather name the real number than round up.
Methodology
Hellamaid analyzed completed Launch27 bookings from September 1, 2025 through August 31, 2026, coded weekly, bi-weekly or every four weeks. We excluded one-time and tri-weekly service, cancellations, forecasts, incomplete appointments, records without a positive customer total or duration, and records that could not be assigned to a Canadian home.
Appointment price is the final customer total stored with the booking, including applicable tax and any tip. Duration is scheduled time, not clocked labour. Homes were deduplicated privately; no names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, postal codes or booking identifiers were exported.
Estimated annual spend uses the median of each home’s own median appointment price, multiplied by 52, 26 or 13 visits. The completed-spend check uses stricter full-window continuity rules and suppresses groups below 10 homes.
Limitation: this is an observational dataset from one Canadian cleaning company, not a population-weighted national survey. Ontario represented 82.8% of qualifying visits. Figures are not adjusted for home size, service scope, extras, geography or customer preferences.
