Booking for a parent? You can book online for their address, leave entry instructions like a door code, lockbox or concierge, and add notes about pets, rooms to skip or products to use.
We're a cleaning company, not a home care agency, so our cleaners don't provide personal care or meals. Want the same cleaner each time? Ask in your notes or client portal, and we'll do our best to match your recurring visits.

How much do cleaning services for seniors cost?

- Hourly: $49 to $59 per cleaner per hour depending on your city, with a 3-hour minimum

Is Hellamaid a home care service?
No. We're a house cleaning company. Our cleaners dust, vacuum, mop and clean kitchens and bathrooms using our checklist. They don't provide personal care, meals, medication help or mobility support. If those are needed, a home care provider can visit alongside us.
Are there free or subsidized cleaning services for seniors?
Hellamaid is a private company, so our cleaning isn't government-funded. Some provinces and communities run programs that help seniors with housekeeping, such as Better at Home in British Columbia. Your provincial seniors or home care office can tell you what's available where you live.
What can a cleaner do in 3 hours?
It depends on the size and condition of the home. As a guide, a standard clean of a 3-bedroom home takes one cleaner about 2.5 to 3.5 hours. Homes that haven't been cleaned in a while can take longer.
- For a smaller home, 3 hours often covers a full standard clean
- For a larger home, book a package clean, or an hourly clean with a short priority list, like the kitchen and bathrooms
Can a family member book and manage cleaning for a parent?
Yes. You can book online for your parent's address and manage everything in the client portal: reschedule, add extras or change the cleaning type.

Will my parent get the same cleaner every visit?
We do our best to send the same cleaner or team for recurring bookings, but it depends on availability and schedules, so we can't guarantee it. You can request a preferred cleaner in your booking notes or client portal. If they're unavailable, we send another trained, background-checked cleaner.
Does my parent need to be home during the clean?
No. Many clients leave a door code, lockbox or concierge instructions when they book. Your parent is welcome to be home too. If they are, cleaners will work around them and follow reasonable requests within our checklist.
Are your cleaners background-checked and insured?
Yes. Only about 1 in 100 applicants joins our team, and every cleaner is background-checked and bonded, with $5M liability insurance on every booking.

Should a senior's home get a standard or a deep clean?
A deep clean is a good first visit for a home that hasn't been professionally cleaned in a while. After that, a recurring standard clean keeps it up.

What if we need to cancel or reschedule?
Skip, pause or reschedule in your client portal or by contacting us. It's free with at least 24 hours' notice; changes made within 24 hours of the clean may have a $45 late cancellation fee, which goes to the assigned cleaner.
