It isn’t always easy to to keep up with the chores of life (pun intended). That’s why our team at Hellamaid prepared this quick list of 10 easy ways to make cleaning your home easier and more enjoyable! Save your money and resort to these simple and easy solutions instead:
1. Dryer sheets[spacer height=”20px”]
Even after they’ve been consumed, these sheets can come in handy and work wonders around your house! Use these sheets to help in the following:
- Clear out water and stain marks from glassware and mirrors
- Remove the ring inside the toilet
- Wipe baseboards clean
2. Tackle a stinky garbage with some lemon[spacer height=”20px”]
At Hellamaid, we know exactly what neglected garbage bins smell like (we’ve been there and we’ve smelled that). Eliminate bad garbage odors from the kitchen by simply throwing in some lemons in the garbage disposal. For the best results, try cutting the lemons into slices before spreading them into the bin. This is also a great trick if you have guests coming over!
3. Clean the blender[spacer height=”20px”]
Add a cup of hot water mixed with soap into your blender, then turn the blender on and let it got for a about ten seconds. After you’ve blended the mixture simply rinse out the contents with warm water and your blender is as good as new!
4. Clean your sponge![spacer height=”20px”]
Often times this one goes unnoticed, but the cleaning tools you’re using could possibly be doing more bad than good! Be sure to clean your sponge and all surfaces of your cleaning tools of any bacteria. One easy trick is to let your tools sit in hot water, since the high heat helps to kill germs and bacteria. You could also just throw your sponge in the microwave for 30 seconds, but wait 1-2 minutes before pulling it out to let it cool.
For this reason, our Hellamaid crew always ensures that all tools and sponge surfaces are clean to give your home the cleaning it truly deserves.
5. Have an old shirt to spare? [spacer height=”20px”]
Once you’ve vacuumed up the floor and removed the chunks of dirt, all you need is a bucket of water, some light detergent and a rag (or an old shirt!) to get that nice shiny finish. To make the job easier simply attach the rag to the end of a broom stick and wipe away (don’t forget to wash the dirt off the rag often!).
6. Knife out the air vents! [spacer height=”20px”]
If you haven’t checked them in a while, your air vents are most likely clogged up with dirt and dust that just doesn’t belong. Not only will this send more dirt into the room, but it could also be harmful for your health and the bills you pay every month! (clogged up vents mean more work from the fan to push the air out).
The solution is simple: Soak a rag with a cleaning agent and wrap it around either a butter knife or a sharp tool to clean the air vents!
7. Cleaning the blinds [spacer height=”20px”]
Don’t say a word because we already know you have dirty blinds (we all do). But it’s okay because we found your solution! Mix an equal amount of water and vinegar into a bowl and get an old sock to put over your hand. Dip the sock into the bowl and wipe it across each slats of the blinds and watch how easy the dirt comes off! (clean the sock from the dirt after a couple of wipes)
Would you like us to clean the blinds for you? Select the “Inside Windows” option in our booking page for an additional extra-clean service.
8. Keeping your steel appliances shiny [spacer height=”20px”]
Ironically, “stainless” steel appliances like fridges and stoves seem to be stained all the time! These stains often come in the form of finger prints, water stains, or just dirt in general. A simple solution is at your hands! Apply a finger tip amount of olive oil to a microfiber cloth (or any soft cloth) and wipe away! (you could also use rubbing alcohol)
9. Eliminate odors with baking soda! [spacer height=”20px”]
Baking soda has a marvel of cleaning uses, one being eliminating odors and stains from fabric.
Step 1: Brush off any noticeable particles from the surface of your couch.
Step 2: Sprinkle baking soda on the areas you want cleans
(Let it sit for 20 minutes)
Step 3: Vacuum it up using the brush attachment. Smell the freshness!
10. Eliminate odors with baking soda! [spacer height=”20px”]
Put equal amounts of water and vinegar into a microwave-safe bowl (along with any small wooden object to prevent boiling). Place the bowl into the microwave and let the microwave run for 5 to 10 minutes. Wait a couple of minutes to let the bowl cool, then simply wipe off the grime with a sponge or a paper towel. You’ll notice how easy the dirt comes off!
You could also add lemon into the mixture for an added fresh scent.
